Two-factor authentication imposed by the service provider
Your service provider may have implemented a requirement for either Taskfire An extension of the Client Portal that lets you manage your own internal help desk. resources or all Client Portal A branded web portal through which you and your service providers can collaborate on tickets and projects. users to log in to the Client Portal using two-factor authentication (2FA). If so, all Client Portal users who are impacted will be prompted to set up 2FA during the login process. Refer to Logging in.
The following options are available to the service provider:
-
Not required: this is the default setting. 2FA is not required for any users.
-
Taskfire Users Only: only users with a Taskfire security level are required to use 2FA. Regular Client Portal users will not have to configure 2FA.
-
All Users: requires both regular Client Portal users and Taskfire users to configure 2FA.
If All Users is imposed by the service provider, there is nothing to configure, since you are not allowed to weaken a security requirement.
Two-factor Authentication configured by the Client Portal Manager or Taskfire Administrator
Client Portal Managers and Taskfire Administrators have the option to enforce their own 2FA requirement. The requirement can be set to be either equally or more restrictive than the service provider's setting. This allows Portal administrators who have higher security requirements to set the appropriate 2FA setting without impacting the service provider's entire customer base.
To review and configure 2FA settings, do the following:
-
Select one of the available options.
- If the global setting is Not Required, all three options are available.
- If the global setting is Taskfire Users Only, the Taskfire Only and All Users options will be available.
- If the global setting is All Users, the dropdown selector is disabled, since you are not allowed to weaken a security requirement.
