Making a payment on an invoice

About the Make a Payment window
On the Make a Payment window, you select the payment method to pay the current invoice or enter a new credit card or bank account info. When you enter a new payment method, you have the option to save it for future use. The payment information entered here is not stored in Autotask but in the 100% PCI-compliant payment vault of the gateway. The most recently saved payment method will be the default.
To access the payment window, you must have permission to view invoices and financial data. By default, only the standard Manager security level has this permission assigned. Your service provider can add the permission to other security levels.
NOTE Payment processing is only available for customers based in the US who use USD as their internal currency.
Making a payment
The Process Payment window can be opened from the Reports Client Portal menu that provides access to preconfigured reports. > Invoices page and by clicking on an invoice on the Recent Invoices card of the Home page.
Depending on the setup of the Make a Payment page, you can pay two ways:
- Using a credit card
- Using a bank account (eCheck)
Payment methods are stored separately for each Client Portal A branded web portal through which you and your service providers can collaborate on tickets and projects. user. To use a previously saved payment method, do the following:
- Open the invoice you would like to pay.
- Click Process Payment. The Make a Payment window opens.
- At the top of the page, Review the Invoice An itemized statement of goods and services with their prices and the terms of sale. Date, Amount Due, and Date Due displayed at the top of the page.
- If you have previously stored one or more payment methods, select a method using the radio buttons. The last payment method you used will be set as the default.
- Click Process Payment and confirm that you want to proceed. If the payment goes through, the window will be updated and you will see the Payment has been processed banner.
If the payment cannot be processed, the card was declined for lack of funds, or the card or bank information was incorrect or incomplete. Please contact your service provider for details.
If you have not yet saved a payment method or would like to add a new one, click Add Credit Card or Add Bank Information (eCheck).

NOTE Depending on how your service provider has configured these payment options, you may only have a single option.
To enter a credit card number, populate the following fields:

Credit Card Number | Enter the credit card number without any spaces. |
Expiration | Enter the expiration date in the format of MM/YY. |
CVV | The Card Verification Value is a three- or four-digit number that is used by merchants to verify that the customer has physical access to the card. |
Name and Address fields | Enter the First Name and Last Name exactly as it appears on the Credit Card, and enter the billing address for the credit card. |
Save payment information |
If you select this check box, the credit card information is saved to your payment method vault in the BNG Gateway and will be available next time you make a payment. |
An eCheck, or electronic check, is a digital version of a paper check. The money is electronically withdrawn from your checking or savings account, transferred over the ACH (Automated Clearing House) network, and deposited into your MSP Acronym for “Managed Service Provider.” Typically an information technology (IT) service provider who provides a defined set of services to clients. For example, an MSP might maintain servers for clients or provide desktop virus protection.'s account. This payment method is safer and faster than paper checks, and the fees are lower than credit card fees.
